Karl May, the co-founder and CEO of Join, is a pioneering figure in the field of data networking. With a career spanning more than 30 years, he has consistently been at the forefront of technological advancements. In 1990, May started Provectus, a branch in the box routing company that later sold to DT. He joined Silicon Graphics as part of Jim Clark’s joint venture with TimeWarner and AT&T to build the world’s first interactive television service. Later he later led the SGI team that built the first digital media streaming platform, StreamCaster, which was deployed to millions of direct-to-home satellite customers. From SGI, May led LANCity and introduced the first broadband cable modem, a technology that revolutionized the way people accessed the worldwide web. As founding CEO of Vello, he led a team building the first software-defined networking products for data centers.
